Today I was up really wonderfully early. I managed to read, enjoy coffee, and even get about an hour of work in before the kids woke up!! It was WONDERFUL!! I am working toward waking up at 4:30am so that I can get the workouts for the program I start next week complete BEFORE the house wakes up. Thank goodness for starting something new, it’s definitely giving me something to look forward to and helping me keep my eye on the end of the road/reset.

Mondays have NEVER been my favorite, and today did not dissapoint. We were crazy busy. We had a virtual doctor appointment for the baby. Which can I just say it is CRAZY that is how we meet with doctors these days!! LOL! Then we had a virtual classroom meeting – again, this ‘new normal’ is so not normal!! And I forgot about estimates I was getting to have our fence repaired/replaced so that also happened. My husband came home late, and nowadays grocery stores close early but the rainbow is that I was able to make it in time to get our shopping done, but not enough time to get any meals prep done for Week 3. The other rainbow is that most our meals come week 3 are raw and don’t require much prep.

Today was fruit for breakfast , the dreaded salad, and stir fry. LOL. I ate it, it was good, I’m excited for bedtime and definitely looking forward to tomorrow morning!! Day 15 is the beginning of the end. Right now I really want chicken. Or an Egg. I think missing my snack today was a big mistake!! It won’t happen again. Best part of the day, was ending it with the best snuggles from my Sweet little Vanessa.

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!!!

I had the sweetest morning! My husband went out and hand picked a beautiful bouquet of flowers fresh from our gardens. Then he and the girls made me a fruit plate for breakfast, complete with my own little coffee tray. They let me relax on the couch while he handled breakfast for everyone.

My favorite gift was a baby blue spruce we bought the day before that he dug a hole and we planted in the front yard. My husbands family has a tradition of a Christmas Tree Lighting at their house, they invite the neighborhood to come enjoy drinks and they light up the tree each year up in his hometown of Brick, NJ. Now, we have our very own to carry on that Christmas Tradition!! We also had bought some fresh herbs that we potted.

Another special moment was finding a sweet teeny tiny praying mantis in our front flower bed. It felt so special to see the tiny little creature and I feel so blessed to have it choose my bed as it’s home. Overall the day was just so much fun, and so special. It was sunny and a perfect 70*. The kids were good and happy and I got to eat my favorite meals for the week of quinoa/lentil pilaf with hummus and bisque with tempeh.

Wishing all the Mom’s out there a very Happy Mother’s Day!!

I am not going to bore you with details about food. It’s Saturday. It’s freezing here on the East Coast for a day in May. I am in Chesapeake, Virginia and the high today is in the 50’s!! My poor sister lives in Maine and its snowing. What the freaking Hell?! Anyway. It’s my second Saturday on this plan. Today we are eating Fruit, Salad, and Stir Fry. I haven’t talked too much about my snack. Everyday I have a snack shake. It is delicious and is probably the key to my success on this plan.

Usually around 2:00 I tend to get a little hangry. The lull between lunch and dinner can get to me. So I make my shake! I drink it everyday, on and off the reset, and I swear it keeps me from binge eating sweet and salty snacks! I know this because on days I decide I don’t need it or I’m out and forget to pack it, I binge. And it’s not pretty. It’s usually the end of an entire box of cookies or an entire bag of popcorn covered in extra butter, a rush idea to cruise through the drive through of any greasy fast food spot. It’s what happened for the 3ish weeks before I realized I needed a reset. I flew down the rabbit hole WAY faster than Alice ever knew was possible!

What’s in this deliciousness? I prefer, no I LOVE and primarily drink Chocolate Vegan Shakeology. It is a protein based superfood powder. And I love it. I blend it with 3/4 ice cubes, 1c almond milk, 1c Naked fruit juice, and a couple of my fave supplements, power greens (cause it’s an entire serving of veggies I don’t have to graze on), and collagen (this is why I have great hair, long nails, and healthy skin). Blend it all up and enjoy how freaking delicious that is!!! And if you’re not a fan of fruit, like my hubby, he skips the naked juice, adds water instead, and a scoop of PBFit for a peanut butter cup tasting treat. Enjoy! And I’ll see you tomorrow…PS tomorrow is Mother’s Day <3

Ultimate Reset Day 11

ITS FRIDAY!!! I enjoyed my breakfast, and even shared my banana with the little baby boo. The kids hustled through their schoolwork so we could get out for a nice walk before the cold rolls in tomorrow. I was warned in the booklet that came with the program that I would feel colder than normal, but I have been quite chilly, which is definitely not the norm for this girl! Usually I’m like a human furnace. Currently I’m wondering if that is even a good thing or a sign of a nutritional issue and really your body shouldn’t be a furnace and if it is you should be figuring out why. Anyway, Sorry I’m rambling a tad.

Todays lunch and dinner are my favorites, pilaf and hummus; bisque and tempeh. However, Friday in our house is movie night. And on movie night, my babies expect popcorn. Which happens to be my own personal guilty pleasure!! and the more extra butter the BETTER!!! So it was hard. Really hard. To smell the popcorn, and cover it in butter and watch the girls eat it all up. Even the dogs got to enjoy some. It was painful. But I stayed strong! Tomorrow is a new day. And in case you aren’t counting, WE ARE OVER HALF WAY TO THE END!!! Day 21 is coming quick!!

Ultimate Reset Day 10

I feel SO much better!!!

My pineapple went bad this morning though, but I haven’t had a banana in forever and it was a delicious replacement in my 3 cups of fruit breakfast! My husband is currently enjoying the other breakfast option since he hates fruit (which I think is totally weird) so he has mashed chickpeas, with avacado and a bowl of miso soup. Now, if you are like *gag*, let me just say the mashed chickpeas are actually quite delicious and will probably continue to be a healthy snack choice for us. However, the miso soup, totally a gagworthy moment at breakfast time!! But he loves it! I married a weirdo. LOL.

Lunch was Greek Salad. I chewed. And chewed. And ate it. Well, most of it anyway.

Dinner I had stir fry and sweet potato and miso soup. It was a relief. Although I will say on these days I do feel more tired in the evenings that the days I have the bisque and tempeh. Maybe it’s just in my head, but I’m exhausted by 7ish on these nights. So, Goodnight.

Ultimate Reset Day 9

Today was AWFUL!! I felt off this morning, and it got worse with the realization that I had a UTI. FML. I am not sure if it’s because of this reset, but I am attributing it to that, this was the worst feeling ever!! I am pretty certain this ‘reset’ has made me hyper aware of EVERYTHING going on with my body and for that reason it intensifies the feeling. I did go buy meds for it and when the pain didn’t subside took a small dose of ibuprofen and used a heating pad on my abdomen which helped a lot.

Everything else today was okay. Thank goodness my husband was home and able to baby me a bit. We did have the quinoa lentil pilaf with hummus for lunch, which I thought was going to be weird, but it was actually delicious and a really nice change from salad!! Dinner was my FAVORITE and we had sweet potato and red pepper bisque. It will be staying on our regular rotation and I am pretty sure even the kids will love it!!

So I’m exhausted and need some rest to help with this stupid infection. Warning: ladies you know how I got it, yes, this reset will totally help your marriage 😉 .

Ultimate Reset Day 8

This week starts the real detox. I am now including a fiber supplement 30 minutes before every meal, which is not my favorite, but with extra water it goes down easier…and is less chunky/slimy that way too. Breakfast is 3 cups of fruit, which is delicious, but also ALOT of fruit to put down, LOL!

Lunch is either Greek Salad (today) or quinoa and lentil pilaf with hummus. I have today having a different kind of salad was a nice change of pace, but it still was tons to chew. Seriously, eating these big salads, takes forever because you cant just put it in your mouth chew a sec and swallow. You literally have to chew and chew all that roughage. It. Takes. For. EVER.

Dinner this week is either Veggie Stir Fry with 1/2 a sweet potato and miso soup (today) or sweet potato & red pepper bisque with baked tempeh and avacado (which I’m most excited about!). Miso soup is growing on me, I do prefer it without the seaweed though. Tonight I was really tired, we had a pretty big day at the house with craft projects and schoolwork.

I am feeling overall really really good. Refreshed. Lighter. And it feels really good to remember how delicious food tastes when it’s not processed, fried, or slathered in butter!! It’s also great to be completely clear headed now that alcohol is no longer a factor. My patience is incredible when I’m not counting down the minutes to my next glass/bottle of wine.

Ultimate Reset Day 7

Day 7 KICKED MY ASS!!

It was hard. From the moment I woke up, I knew I was off…and it did not get better. Of course I fully enjoyed my breakfast of oats, yogurt, and berries. But I was short tempered with the kids, and gave up on their schoolwork so we ended up heading outside to clip flowers to collect for a vase. Then lunch hit. I was HANGRY and making the girls fluffernutter sandwiches did NOT help my Hanger situation. Then I opened my salad *insert stifled vomit* and attempted to eat it. I made it through half, and drank an extra glass of water to fill me up.

I grocery shopped for week 2, but also shopped for A LOT of extra stuff which felt good in the moment, of course overspending always only feels good for a brief moment. UGH. The evening was no walk in the park and me and the hubs had a disagreement about the kids staying up to watch the new Star Wars Movie. I protested they were too tired, and he protested it meant a lot to him since it was “May the Fourth” *insert dramatic eyeroll* which knowing his level of Star Wars nerd, I gave in. And he of course regretted keeping them up as they were total terrors as I had predicted which then led to me doing the I told you so routine which didn’t make either of us happy. And we had dinner very late. Which made it taste less than great.

And that my friends was how we ended Week 1! LOL! Can we just say we are GLAD it is over, and excited to move into week 2 with a new menu!!

Ultimate Reset Day 6

It’s almost the end of week 1!! I’m pleasantly surprised that after tomorrow we will move into phase 2 of the reset. I am getting really bored with the meals from this week so I’m super motivated to get this first phase over with. I actually did my meal planning for week 2 and wrote out my grocery list today and I’m pretty stinking pumped for next week!! Anyway, this post is about today. The morning was great, I read and finished my book. I enjoyed the heck out of my breakfast. Then Lunch Came Along.

So I will be making note when I post my meal plan and recipes that you should NOT store the veggies together for the hummus and veggie lunch. They were a bit of a slimy mess. I improvised and fortunately had broccoli and baby carrots and used those and through out the other blend. But it was pretty gross. The rest of lunch was great and honestly the hummus tasted so good today I could have eaten it alone off a spoon! My energy this morning was a little sluggish, so I had breakfast earlier than normal and my lunch issue made lunch less that delicious. Dinner was stir fry veggies with a sweet potato. I have had a sweet potato EVERY night with dinner. It started out as my favorite part of dinner, but much like the salad yesterday, I’ll be happy to get a little break from sweet potatoes!!

Tonight I am feeling great. I’m a little sunburned from yard work on an 80 degree day, but aside from that I feel great. I actually have more energy now, its a little after 9pm, than I have all day. Which is crazy considering how much we worked today! Tomorrow is Monday. The last day of week 1, and I am really looking forward to finishing it! …and in case you are wondering after reading the Day 5 post: NO, I am NOT looking forward to eating that darn salad for lunch OR the stinking sweet potato with dinner. 😉

Ultimate Reset Day 5

Day 5 was a little rocky. It started strong, but I love the oats, yogurt, fruit and syrup I get for breakfast every morning! It’ll probably be a new staple. However, when it came time for lunch, today was microgreen salad, my 3rd microgreen salad this week. And I was not excited for it. It tastes good, and the vegetables are all still crisp and delicious even after 5 days of hanging out in a mason jar. I was just OVER it. I still have to eat it again on Day 7 and I am SO not looking forward to that either.

Today we started working on our backyard and getting the pool and deck and seating area’s summer ready. It was exhausting. I didn’t drink as much water as I should have. But it was a really great day. There is something SO rewarding about working on your home and sprucing up your living spaces. I love it. Plus my hubby hurt his back a little and we did yoga stretching together. Which was a very pleasant change. We rarely workout together, mostly because we like totally different programs and totally different workouts. I’m more cardio focused, where he is all about weight lifting. So this was an odd occurrence made even better by the fact that he LOVED it and said he would start rotating it into his workouts all the time!!

Okay, back to the reset. Besides hating my salad to the point I couldn’t finish it and the thought of eating it even as I type this makes me not hungry, I had a great day!! Dinner was lentil salad with a sweet potato and miso soup. I am not a huge fan of plain miso soup, but it was better than the salad, LOL, and I actually LOVE the lentils with carrots. Even if they do make me a bit gassy. They are delicious. <3

Ultimate Reset Day 4

Did you know you can complete a cleanse/detox and STILL EAT FOOD?! I think I am shocked that I get through most of the day, without feeling like I am starving!! I’m not a moody hangry Biotch, and I am genuinely feeling BETTER than I did just a few days ago. My congestion symptoms are totally gone today. My headache never came. I mean, I’m feeling really good…so good that I am waiting for the bottom to drop out, like betting that I’m in a false sense of great and the next two weeks are going to rapidly decline until I cannot wait for day 21 and this to all be over! We’ll see.

Yoga today was fun and challenging. It was a flow day and I successfully completed a sun salutation with a chataranga(?) into cobra THREE TIMES!!! It was invigorating and relaxing and felt so good to just feel myself work those poses. Who Knew Yoga Could Be This Great?! As much as I am enjoying my yoga, I do not have any aspirations of headstands or the upward dog I saw today. But I am loving my beginner/intermediate level yoga and will work in these stretch days to my other programs as active rest days for sure!

Also, just a note, I am feeling more slender today. The scale is saying I’m a liar and it is just a feeling, but I think my bloating from eating crap has significantly gone down and it feels really good to lose that load!! Tonight the kids had grilled cheese sandwhiches and I didn’t think twice about them, but it was Friday Movie Night in our house, and the popcorn smell ALMOST killed me!!! And thank goodness it is natural and included in my regular diet cause I could not live without my popcorn on Fridays! My poor husband is suffering far more from food cravings and struggles not to eat off the kids plates when they are done every night so far. Let’s just remind him that this whole thing was HIS IDEA!! LOL! Okay it’s 9:20pm, on a Friday, and I’m wiped. So lame. Totally tucking in with some Hallmark Channel and off to sleep!

Day 3

Today was GREAT!! I woke up early, did my breathing exercises and meditation, and read a chapter of my book (When Less Becomes More by Emily Ley for those wondering) ALL before any kids woke up!! It was wonderful. Then the usual hussle of the morning hit. Once the baby went down for a nap I mowed our backyard; adding this because I want to remember I did that as I NEVER mow the yard!! Then I did my yoga. Today was Balance.

Lets take a moment to talk yoga. I cannot believe how good it feels to complete my 30 minute yoga practice every day this week!! I am not a yogi type…at least I didn’t think I was. But oh my goodness I swear it is not only HUGELY improving my posture already, but I’m learning incredible stretches for the strain I feel in my neck and shoulders. My back and legs feel looser and less cramped. And my mood in the afternoons is so much lighter. I usually do my yoga around 11 and it truly does wonders for the rest of my day.

I did start getting really stuffy today. Not congested, my chest is clear, but my nose was draining all day and it was not at all allergy related. I attribute this as a purge if you will and effect of the detox. (sorry if that is TMI, just being honest about symptoms and how my body is reacting to the reset) I was not as fatigued today. I was also not super excited to chow down on my salad at lunch and my kids PBJ’s smelled really good. So sugar cravings are not remedied. I had lentil salad and sweet potato for dinner which was delicious. The miso soup was okay, but tasted really salty to me so I could only finish half and might water mine down more next time we have it. My headache was very faint and didn’t start until about 7 tonight and seems to be gone now as I’m typing so I think it may fully subside come tomorrow. As far as any bathroom side effects, my husband and I are not experiencing any of the urgent potty issues that come with many cleanse and detox recipes/diets that you see on the market. I have been a bit more gassy than usual, but I kind of attribute that to the lentil salad too…I mean, hello, beans.

That ends day 3. I’ll be headed to bed soon. And excited to wake up tomorrow!!
