I often poke around on Pinterest…I mean who doesn’t?! And came across this blog about a DIY Mobile for her daughters crib, and HAD to make one for my little Vanessa. So here is my DIY Mobile, I changed it a bit to fit her room and our decor, the mom from God bless our nest did a beautiful job and I completely appreciate the inspiration and hopefully Vanessa will too when she finally gets here…yes as of today she is 2 days past due, so cross your fingers this baby girl comes soon!!

I have already spray painted my wire wreath frame lavender to match her room and the rest are materials I am using for her mobile. I took advantage of the season, and it just so happens that Wal-Mart had an amazing selection of small ornaments/garland/ribbon to use on her project!

Here I hooked on the crystal drops evenly around the frame. Since I was using different lengths I wanted to make sure each size was evenly distributed around the frame.

I took both boxes of bead garland and cut them each into two different length smaller pieces. One set was 12″ long the other about 8″, both still longer than the crystal drops that were already hung. I tied all the silver garland around the frame with lavender embroidery thread.

I then added the ornaments using the same lavender embroidery thread to tie the ornaments on. I did use three different lengths on my ornaments. One is about 4″ long, another at about 8″, and the last at 12″. Also being careful to evenly distribute the different lengths around the frame only now taking into consideration the placement of the silver garland and crystal drops as well.

My last touch and the star/inspiration of the mobile is a dream catcher that I died lavender. The dream catcher is a gift from my Grammy, soon to be Vanessa’s Great Grammy. Great Grammy lives in Maine and although she is as independent as ever, she may not be around for too much longer. I absolutely hope to get Vanessa up there to meet her ASAP, but I love that no matter what memories my daughter has of her Great Grammy, she will always have sweet dreams and her Great Grammy to thank for them!

I did not like the look of the exposed wire frame, so I used squares from a wreath that I made for her bedroom door to cover the wire. Each square was individually glued on with a spray on fabric glue to hold it together. This was VERY time consuming, but at completion it looks fantastic and matches her nursery perfect!
We just finished building her crib last night. We thought that would be a bit of a chore, but it honestly was quite simple once you got the hang of the pictures in the instructions. Soon we will post pictures of the entire completed nursery, we have a few more furniture pieces being delivered this week, I was hoping to get them before she came, but since tomorrow is Sunday and there are no deliveries, I am now hoping she comes before we get them! LOL! I also mentioned the wreath we made for her door. Here is that picture and soon I will post a quick DIY How-To. 🙂

Wreath on her Nursery Door! Although I actually have it held up with a command strip now and not an obnoxious wreath hanger….but you get the idea 🙂
